TENSEGRITY MODULE
PHNOM PENH Kingdom of Cambodia
This project was part of the "The real scale Tesnegrity experience" for the dual diploma Bachelor degree students of Civil Engineering at the University of Arizona and the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP). Six students were working on this project.
The students chose a 6 – struts module where each strut was made by PE pipeline tube with cups on both ends to protect the edge. Each strut was 3m long and acted as a compressed element. For handling the tension, students selected 4,5kN mountain climbing rope and turnbuckle screw hooks to adjust the tension. At the moment, the model is on display on the AUPP campus and will be used in future Structural Engineering classes as a mock-up for tensile strength demonstration and research.
